Bicycle Mechanic/Service Manager

Description:

We provide Paid Training and are willing to invest time & money into individuals who are mechanically skilled, hard-working, willing to learn and have a positive attitude. There is an opportunity to become a Service Manager with more advanced work experience.


Responsibilities:
Candidates will work with our staff to perform the following:
-Routine maintenance, flat tire repairs, tune-ups and overhauls on bicycles.  Skills include adjusting brakes (conventional, mechanical disc and hydraulic disc), adjusting gears and shifters, adjust and/or replace headsets and bottom brackets and more
-Diagnose and trouble-shoot problems with customers’ bikes and determine method to repair
-Communicate with manager and customers on what actions were taken to correct problems
-Install various accessories that may be purchased with a new bicycle such as fenders and racks

-Assemble & prep a variety of brand new, high quality bicycles
-Bike types include high performance road, mountain, urban, hybrid and children’s bikes

Requirements:
-Some prior experience working on bicycles IS REQUIRED.  Prior experience working in a bike shop is preferred.
-Basic knowledge & familiarity of different types of bicycles & parts (derailleurs, brakes, cranks etc.) is required
-Must be responsible, punctual and detail-oriented
-Willing to listen to and follow instructions and store protocols
-Ability to clearly communicate with customers in a professional manner
-Maintain a clean and organized workspace
-Ability to multi-task to meet deadlines, especially when the store is busy
-Must be a team player and work with together with other staff members
-Self-motivated and able to work independently after given instructions
-Candidates must be able to lift and move bikes and equipment weighing 25-50 lbs.

Compensation:
-PAID TRAINING to qualified individuals
-Full Time:   40 Hours per week at hourly wage + 1.5x Overtime.
-Part Time:  20-25 Hours per week at hourly wage
-Hourly wage varies depending on work experience and mechanical aptitude

Bicycle Salespeople

Seasonal Full Time & Part Time Positions (March thru late August/early September)

Prior experience working in a bicycle shop is preferred but not required. College students are welcome to apply.

Applicants must have the following qualities:

- Must be able to work on Saturdays
- Must have some basic knowledge about general bike types & bike components

- Excellent communication skills and comfortable talking with customers

- Ability to learn quickly and multi-task in a fast-paced retail environment
- Able to self-start projects and follow through to completion
- Willingness to follow directions and execute tasks with attention to detail
