Bicycle Salespeople

Seasonal Full Time & Part Time Positions (March thru late August/early September)

Prior experience working in a bicycle shop is preferred but not required.  

Applicants must have the following qualities:

- Must be able to work most Saturdays and/or Sundays
- Must have some basic knowledge about general bike types & bike components

- Excellent communication skills and comfortable talking with customers

- Ability to learn quickly and multi-task in a fast-paced retail environment
- Able to self-start projects and follow through to completion

Assistant Manager for Sales & Marketing

Seasonal Full Time Position (March-September)

Individuals with the desire to understand and experience first-hand the inner workings of a small company, will benefit tremendously from this internship opportunity.

Position Overview:
The Assistant Manager will work closely with the Store Manager in a variety of areas including:  Sales, Website Maintenance, Marketing & Social Media, In-store Merchandising & Inventory Management, Promotions and more.

-Passionate and knowledgeable about bicycles and/or cycling industries in general
-Excellent communication skills and comfortable assisting customers
-Some computer graphic design skills

Task Descriptions for the various areas:

Sales & Customer Service: (Training will be provided)
-Understand inventory management system to best assist customers with product options
-Use store POS system to look up inventory items, check order status, manage customer data etc.
-Assist customers by explaining features and benefits when selecting bicycles, accessories etc.
-Process transactions & payments using store POS system
-Use available manufacturer product tutorials & training webinars to learn about new products, trends etc.
-Oversee customer orders through fulfillment and customer pickup/delivery

Website:
-Use computer software & graphic design skills to enhance existing website
-Maintain database of products and prices on website to reflect sales, promotions and specials
-Monitor and make necessary adjustments for search engine optimization

Social Media:
-Assist in managing campaigns and weekly posts on Facebook & Instagram
-Use available product libraries and media assets to create posts
-Track analytics and make necessary adjustments
-Increase presence and outreach on various social media platforms

General Marketing:
-Assist in maintaining/creating/developing direct mail pieces, email campaigns, coupons etc.
-Adjust & update in-store pricing on bicycles and accessories to reflect sales and promotions
-Proactively seek out partnerships & opportunities with local businesses to generate new customers

Promotions & Community Events:
-Manage public relations based on store involvement in community events, cycling advocacy etc.
-Set-up Farina’s tent and displays at cycling events, charity events & corporate events.
-Events include annual Pan Mass Challenge Bike Ride, YMCA Health Fest etc.

Store Merchandising:
-Create and rotate in-store displays on a regular basis
-Use signage and fixtures to enhance promotions, new products etc.



Compensation & Benefits:
Commensurate with skill set, prior retail experience and familiarity with bicycles in general.
Hourly pay plus 1.5x overtime pay for hours over forty.  Generous discounts on bikes and accessories.  Full time, year-round employees have access to health benefits, profit sharing etc.  Working on most Saturdays during our peak season (April-July) is required as well as some Sundays in April, May & June.

Bicycle Mechanic

 
Full Time & Part Time
Start Date:Immediate

Description:
Do you love bicycles?  Do you want to gain valuable, hands-on career experience working on bicycles?  Come join us and be part of our award-winning team!

We provide Paid Training and are willing to invest time & money into individuals who are mechanically skilled, hard-working, willing to learn and have a positive attitude. There is an opportunity to become a Service Manager with more advanced work experience.


Responsibilities:
Candidates will work with our staff to perform the following
-Assemble & prep a variety of brand new, high quality bicycles
-Bike types include high performance road, mountain, urban, hybrid and children’s bikes
-Routine maintenance, flat tire repairs, tune-ups and overhauls on bicycles.  Skills include truing/balancing wheels, adjusting brakes (conventional, mechanical disc and hydraulic disc), adjusting gears and shifters, adjust and/or replace headsets and bottom brackets and more
-Diagnose and trouble-shoot problems with customers’ bikes and determine method to repair
-Communicate with manager and customers on what actions were taken to correct problems
-Install various accessories that may be purchased with a new bicycle such as fenders and racks

Requirements:
-Some prior experience working on bicycles is required
-Basic knowledge & familiarity of different types of bicycles & parts (derailleurs, brakes, cranks etc.) is required
-Must be responsible, punctual and detail-oriented
-Willing to listen to and follow instructions and store protocols
-Ability to clearly communicate with customers in a professional manner
-Maintain a clean and organized workspace
-Ability to multi-task to meet deadlines, especially when the store is busy
-Must be a team player and work with together with other staff members
-Self-motivated and able to work independently after given instructions
-Candidates must be able to lift and move bikes and equipment weighing 25-50 lbs.

Compensation:
-PAID TRAINING to qualified individuals
-Full Time:   40 Hours per week at hourly wage + 1.5x Overtime.  Benefits & profit sharing available
-Part Time:  20-25 Hours per week at hourly wage
-Hourly wage varies depending on work experience and mechanical aptitude
-Generous discounts on new bicycles, apparel and gear
